11/14/17 – CALIFORNIA – Palm Springs Unified School District (PSUSD) announced they have enlisted Noodle Markets’ procurement tools to issue competitive solicitations, manage contracts, and streamline vendor communication within their busy Nutrition Services Department. The department provides lunch to more than 15,000 students per day.
The department has already loaded their approved vendor lists into the Noodle Markets platform, where their schools are now able to “shop” their district marketplace. District and school users will expand searches and invited bidders, as appropriate, to Noodle Markets’ growing database of thousands of national and local K12 vendors for purchases large and small.
“Noodle Markets makes the procurement process easier and keeps us more accountable. The platform has moved us forward where we had felt stagnant,” says Bob Spinuzza, Operations Director of Nutrition for Palm Springs Unified School District. “We deal with so much paper, and it is so important just to have everything in one place. Noodle Markets has helped us to make sure that our bids are accurate, going to the right places, and that we are not missing any vendor questions or information along the way. It is keeping us more compliant.”
For Palm Springs, a commitment to federal and state regulation is an important part of the decision to work with Noodle Markets. The platform allows for workflow automations around purchasing thresholds to ensure district, school, and department users adhere to best practices around vendor correspondence and record-keeping. “For some in our department, this might be one of their first experiences doing any kind of government procurement. This system has helped them learn what we need to do to be successful.,” says Spinuzza.
“We want to thank PSUSD for their trust in us and their commitment to innovation,” said John Katzman, Noodle Companies’ CEO. “Our mission is to help districts get the right products and services at great prices and with great efficiency–all while following the letter of the law. Further, we think the increased control and transparency will allow them to give schools more authority.”
Noodle Markets launched its suite of procurement tools in 2016 and hosts thousands of vendor profiles, ranging from curriculum tools to construction companies. This year, it was nominated as “Best Emerging Technology” by the Software Information Industry Association.
